Michele Champion

Shelly creates monotypes influenced by her sketches and paintings. Michele ( Shelly) has painted for over 30 years. She blends her love of sailing and painting. Sketching and painting plein air while sailing along the New England coast and the Caribbean. Being a sailor, Shelly spends a lot of time on or near the water. She likes the feel of the wind propelling the boat along and the challenge of getting somewhere using the force of the wind. As an artist, Shelly tries to capture that feeling using paint as a medium. She creates larger paintings from watercolor sketches. She paints in watercolor, acrylics, and oils in her studio in Ipswich, on the coast of Massachusetts.





Shelly has studied with local artists in the New England area and Arizona. Shelly is a juried member of the National Association of Woman Artists (NAWA). She is a two-time scholarship recipient at Scottsdale Artist School in Arizona. Shelly is a member of Newburyport, Rockport, and Concord Art associations in MA. She paints and exhibits with the Band of Brushes (bandofbrushes.com) out of Newburyport.
